This facility is located at the northern end of Ohama-cho, Innoshima, Onomichi City, facing Nukari Seto Inland Sea between Mukaishima and Innoshima. It is known as a difficult place to maneuver a boat because of its narrow channel, bends, and fast currents during ebb and flow of the tide. In April 1910, the Ohamasaki Ship Passage Signal Station was established for vessels navigating the Seto (during the day the three towers on top of the building emit ○, △, and □ marks on the sides of the towers, and during the night light is transmitted to ships from the top of the towers), and this building was used for its management. Currently, the building is not used as a signal station and is preserved as a modern heritage site. In April 2011, it was designated as an important cultural property of Hiroshima Prefecture.
