It was an annex to the navigation beacon facility and was used as a storeroom and bathroom. Together with the adjoining former bailiffs' rest house, it is an important structure that allows us to understand the role of the islands of the Seto Inland Sea in supporting modern maritime traffic.
As a building, it is of brick construction with mortar exterior walls, and Western-style design is incorporated in the arched entrance and window shutters. It is one of the few buildings from the Meiji period, and the view of Daikokami Island and Iwakuni City is also attractive.
Those wishing to tour the interior should contact the Lifelong Learning Division of the Otake City Board of Education at 0827-53-5800 in advance.
