The Museum of Contemporary Art is located in Hijiyama Park, Hiroshima. The museum exhibits and collects works from a wide variety of genres and introduces a broad range of contemporary expressions. The exterior of the building evokes a fusion of various cultures, with the circular space of the entrance resembling an ancient European town square and the triangular roof reminiscent of a Japanese storehouse. In addition, the materials, which vary from stone, tile, and aluminum to artificial ones, show the development of civilization and the flow of time, expressing the pioneering nature of the building as a contemporary art museum. Another feature of the building is its consideration of harmony with the surrounding natural landscape by keeping the ground level low.
