The museum is located in Hiroshima City's Central Park. Surrounded by a corridor, the exhibition room has a calm atmosphere, with an impressive heavy dome roofed with a single copper plate and finished in greenish blue. The exterior walls, which support the dome, are made of stone (Roman travertine), creating a highly refined space. The designer claims that the vermilion corridor of Itsukushima Shrine and the A-bomb Dome were the inspiration for the design.
