This is an old Western-style building that remains in Ujina, Hiroshima City. It was built as a police station on the water and later used as a prefectural office. It is a typical Western-style building of the late Meiji period, with its unique design facing both the street and the sea, clapboard exterior, pediment (gable) at the entrance, and vertical, raised windows. It is also one of the few wooden buildings to have survived the atomic bombing.
