It is one of the modernist buildings that characterized the reconstruction of Hiroshima after the war, and was designed faithfully in the manner of modernism, which eliminated ornamentation in pursuit of rationality and simplicity. The building has many highlights in its simplicity, including a floor plan based on a rational functional arrangement, a design device that makes the structure appear small and the openings appear large, and the texture of the fixtures, which are made of a large amount of iron.
The basic architectural design has been inherited even by the North Building and the Agriculture and Forestry Building which were completed at different times, and the complex of government buildings as a whole forms a calm and unified district with a complex plan configuration, which is also an attractive feature.
