Information on Application for Issuance of Police Certificates

【Issuance of Police Certificates】

A "Police Certificate" is an official document regarding previous criminal records in Japan.We will issue a "Police Certificate" only if you are required to submit by foreign authorities of your destination country when you travel overseas(including that you stay for a long time)or obtain a license or a qualification in that country.　

※ Please note that depending on the country or the reason for application,you may need to request "Special Issue"to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan directly before you apply for the certificate to this Police Headquarters.

◎ The following individuals are eligible to make applications at Hiroshima Prefectural Police Headquarters;
　１ Those who are registered in Hiroshima Prefecture
　２ Those who currently reside abroad but previously resided with their last registered residence in Hiroshima Prefecture

◎ Fingerprints will be taken at the time of application.Applicants are requested to come to the office in person.

※ Applicants currently residing outside of Japan can make applications at Japanese Embassies or Consulates in the　countries they reside. However, once an application has been made abroad, the same application can not be made in Japan.
※ Please contact your local embassy for further information regarding the application procedure.
※ Depending on the requesting country and the reason for request, application may not be accepted.

Notice of change in reception hours

To create a comfortable working environment and improve quality of administrative service, we have decided to change our reception hours tentatively as follow.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Starting date

June 3, 2024

Reception hours after the change

Monday through Friday

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The office is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays and during the year change period.

※ The application process takes approximately 30 minutes.
※ If there is more than one applicant, you may be asked to wait.

【Parking】

・ Parking is available in the prefectural government visitor parking lot.
・ Parking is free for 60 minutes.
・ If you exceed 60 minutes, it costs 220 yen every 30 minutes.
・ When you enter the parking lot, please receive a parking ticket and hand it to the person in charge.

【 Documents Required for Application 】

To confirm the reason for request and necessary documents, applicants are requested to make an inquiry to the office by phone prior to application.

(1) For individuals who are registered in Hiroshima Prefecture

Valid passport(Any changes, such as name, must have been completed prior to application. No photocopy will be accepted.)
Either of the following documents;
・Residence Card or Special Permanent Resident Certificate
・An official copy of your Certificate of Residence (Juminhyo) or a Certificate of Registered Items in the Certificate of Residence(Juminhyo Kisaijiko Shomeisyo), issued within the last 6 months without Individual Number ("My Number'')　
・Japanese driver's license (Address on the license and that on Juminhyo must be the same.)
・Individual Number Card (Address on the Individual Number Card and that on Juminhyo must be the same.) ※"My Number''Notification letter will not be accepted.
700-yen for handling fee
A document which confirms your necessity to obtain the police certificate
【document requesting submission of a police certificate issued by embassies etc.,completed visa application form, letter of acceptance, travel requisition,copy of e-mail correspondence you may have with the agency requesting the police certificate（the name of the requesting agency and the applicant must be written.）,etc.】

※ Electronic documents must be brought in printed form.
※ We may require additional documents depending on specific circumstances.

(2) For individuals currently reside abroad but previously resided with their last registered residence in Hiroshima Prefecture

Valid passport (Any changes, such as name, must have been completed prior to application. No photocopy will be accepted)
A document which shows your current foreign address (driver's license, mails addressed to you, etc.)
An official copy of deleted Certificate of Residence (issued within the last 6 months，without Individual Numbers)
700-yen for handling fee
A document which confirms your necessity to obtain the police certificate

【 Issuance of Police Certificate】

　・ The certificate will be issued approximately one week after the application date.
　・ The certificate will be issued to the applicants.If the applicants cannot come for unavoidable reason, the representatives of the applicants with the letters of attorney can come and receive them.
・ The certificate can not be delivered by mail.
